The air in the library was still and cool, the scent of old paper and leather permeating the space. Emily sank into a plush armchair, feeling the day's stresses melt away. She was in the middle of a genealogical quest, delving into the family's past.

A collection of photographic slides, tucked away in a dusty drawer, caught her attention. They were labeled "Travels with Uncle George." The stories she’d grown up with painted her Uncle George as a homebody, a devoted family man. The slides, however, depicted him traversing the world, his face lit with adventure, with a companion who was clearly not his wife. The revelation struck her as both surprising and entirely fitting.
